Iconic, giant signage for 

Turayog Place planned

Turayog Place plans to install a giant signage “Turayog” to rival the giant icon “Hollywood” in Hollywood, California.

The letters of the planned Turayog signage will stand 10 feet high and three feet wide. Painted white, it will be facing the panoramic Mambulao Bay.

At that height, the Turayog signage would be very visible from the road going to Larap about two-and-half- kilometers away.

Says its Hawaii-based Elsie Suobiron: Every time they see the Turayog icon from a distance of two kilometers, they would have a craving to come to this mountaintop hideaway.

“I believe that one day, it will become one of the tourism icons in Bicol region,” Suobiron told MWBuzz online newsletter.

The iconic Hollywood signage was built many decades ago to promote prime real estate properties in Hollywood.

Later, it became the symbol for film-making in the US with the city of Hollywood being chosen as the home of American filmmaking.

Suobiron is now scouting for an architect to plan out the Turayog signage project.

At present, the resort has colorful signage of the same name, but it is only four feet high.

Suobiron said she is also looking for a special dish that would make the signature offering of the mountaintop resort.

“If we have that dish, those who tasted it would come back for it again, aside from the magnificent views Turayog offers,” she said.

Since it opened for business four years ago, several groups from outside Camarines Norte had visited the resort and were impressed by its unique location and viewing pleasures it offered the visitors.

Turayog boasts of its two pools, one for adults and the other for the kids, a deck for 300-degree views of Mambulao Bay, the islands on the northern tip of Mambulao, and a panoramic view of the Mambulao poblacion.

It has a platform where a giant heart is fixed for lovers who would like to have their pictures taken while they stand inside the heart. The heart has the scenic Mambulao Bay for its 180-degree view.

The water that fills the two pools is sourced from a nearby spring.

Its latest offering is the 127-step climb to a hill next to the resort, overnight apartel rooms, kiosks for picnickers, and a restaurant.

Turayog Place has drawn the attention of the Department of Tourism that it included the resort in its tourism development plans.

Turayog has become a favorite destination for group bikers from Manila and southern Bicol.

The mountaintop resort is located at Luklukan Norte, about 20-minute jeepney ride from the Mambulao public market.
