Many Seniors in Mambulao don’t get 

benefits from LGU health program


HEALTH benefits await Senior Citizens of Mambulao under the health program of the local government of Mambulao.

However, to avail themselves of such health benefits, seniors should first register with the local Office of the Senior Citizens Affairs (OSCA) for their identification (ID) cards.

There are still many Seniors who have not registered with the LGU OSCA and are therefore not enjoying the benefits from being a Senior Citizen.

Ricardo Menchavez (right), OSCA head, said a duly registered senior may get a free health/doctor’s checkup at the Rural Health Unit (RHU).

He made the comments in a live streaming interview in the program Action Man Executive Agenda of the Public Information Office.

With the doctor’s medical certificate, a Senior would be entitled to medications/maintenance prescribed by the doctor and food supplements that he may need.

The prescribed drugs and supplements are provided for free.

Menchavez has also revealed that the LGU plans to put up an OSCA unit in each of the 27 barangays in the municipality.

He said the barangay OSCA unit would make it convenient for Seniors in the area to find out what help the LGU could provide him.

Menchavez also said that the Sangguniang Bayan (municipal council) may legislate on something that would benefit the Seniors.

Senior are entitled to a 20 percent discount on foodstuff, medicines and health services among others, alongside a 12 percent exemption from Value Added Tax (VAT)

The number of Seniors in Mambulao is not available at the moment.

    hindi alam ng piojp ang bilang ng mga seniors sa mambulao. hindi rin alam ng mga staff dito kung anong cellphone ni menchavez para tawagan at itanong kung may rough estimate sila ng mga seniors sa mambulao. araw araw may nagiging senior pagnagbirthday ito sa edad na 60, kaya need ni panganiban na alamin habang hindi umaabot ng isang milyon ang mga seniors sa mambulao. gokay lang magpapoge... pero mas okey kung ready sila sa mga stats ng mga bagay bagay sa mambulao. halimbawa... 27 ang barangay, pero sa piojp, lima lang.
